In an emotional ceremony, Karen Sibley and Thomas Carey were married at the El Encanto Hotel in Santa Barbara, where a reception followed. The bride and groom are self-employed together in real estate development and construction.

The bride, a certified public accountant, earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. She is the daughter of David and Carol Sibley of Jacksonville, Fla.

The groom, an architect, earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He is the son of Gloria Carey of Milford, Pa and the late Tom Carey. The couple, wed September 2nd, is at home in Santa Barbara, following a honeymoon in Negril.
